Terra’s Angels was established in honor of Terra Murrell, who also suffered from cancer for nine years. Terra spent many of these years receiving treatment at Vanderbilt Hospital and Nashville became her second home. She spent many hours volunteering at Ronald McDonald House, the Vanderbilt Children's Hospital Advisory Committee and the American Red Cross. Her most important work however was done on the oncology floor at the hospital. Terra believed in lending a helping hand, a comforting shoulder, sharing a laugh or a needed prayer. She never complained about her own problems and instead busied herself comforting children and their families as they endured this dreadful disease. As she did these things, she inspired the many people who have come together for this cause. Terra lost her battle with cancer on July 1, 2001, but her enduring influence still lifts up families today. |
